The UALG ALLIANCES 2023/2026 project, coordinated by Universidade do Algarve in the framework of the European Programme Erasmus+ – Key Action 1 International Credit Mobility, supports mobility of students and academic and administrative staff from institutions in Portugal and in Partner Countries, in both directions, IN and OUT.
UALG has developed a roadmap called “UALG ALLIANCES 2023/2026”, targeting to create and develop channels and tools with institutions around the world. The countries considered as a priority are from the Portuguese-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Canada and United States of America. The main pillar areas on which collaboration will develop are Marine and Environmental Sciences, blue growth, water, sanitation and the environment, integrated marine biodiversity; innovation, entrepreneurship and management, favouring links with sustainability and the circular economy; social sciences, biological sciences, health, arts, communication, food engineering, hotel management, tourism, management and communication, as well as technical studies. All planned activities for student and staff mobilities are in line with the Erasmus+ priorities and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2030).
Through the exchange of staff (teaching and training) and students, this mobility project will promote the international circulation of ideas, improve human capacities, integrate high quality programmes and globally recognized courses, thereby contributing to their internationalization through excellence and transfer expertise.

The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability, as well as modernising Education, Training, and Youth work. The seven-year programme has a budget of €14.7 billion; a 40% increase compared to current spending levels, reflecting the EU's commitment to investing in these areas.
Erasmus+ will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad.
Erasmus+ will support transnational partnerships among Education, Training, and Youth institutions and organisations to foster cooperation and bridge the worlds of Education and work in order to tackle the skills gaps we are facing in Europe.
It will also support national efforts to modernise Education, Training, and Youth systems. In the field of Sport, there will be support for grassroots projects and cross-border challenges such as combating match-fixing, doping, violence and racism.
Erasmus+ brings together seven existing EU programmes in the fields of Education, Training, and Youth; it will for the first time provide support for Sport. As an integrated programme, Erasmus+ offers more opportunities for cooperation across the Education, Training, Youth, and Sport sectors and is easier to access than its predecessors, with simplified funding rules.

The "travel distance" refers to the straight-line distance between the city of the sending university and the city of the host university. This distance is calculated automatically using a website designated by the European Commission and cannot be altered.
The financial support allocated for the "travel distance" represents the maximum amount permitted under the Erasmus+ Programme. It is intended to contribute towards the cost of a round trip between the home and host institutions.
If the amount awarded is insufficient to cover the desired travel expenses, the grant holder is responsible for securing additional funding from other sources.
